Windows 7 and Optiarc DVDRWBD BC-5600S

W

Problem:

On my Dell Studio 1737 the Optiarc DVDRWBD BC-5600S would not work after I installed Windows 7. The DVD drive would hang on both DVDs and CDs, sometimes for 15 minutes or more, before it released control back to the program and allowed me to exit the application.

Solution
Control Panel –> System and Security –> Power Options –> Change power plan to “high Performance.”

  • Hi, unfortunately, this dod not work for me… I got excited when I saw this seemingly simple solution, my Optiarc 7200S has same problem.Any further ideas welcome.D

  • Hello! This worked fine for me! I've had some problems too recently. Each time I pushed the eject button the device made Windows 7 freeze for 30 seconds to 2 minutes! I've been talking to somebody of the Dell Support team but they didn't know what was wrong and were trying to convince me to reinstall Windows!Glad I didn't do that!!
